DF65 Interclub Tri-Series - 9th June

We had a couple of no-shows but that was compensated for by extra entries on the day, so the starting fleet was a healthy 21 boats, 4 from BRYC, 8 from PRYC, and 9 from SLMM, which meant a slight widening of the starting line to keep to a 1-fleet racing event.

Can I say pathetic winds some of the time, however, we were all under the same trying conditions, so made the most of an otherwise pleasant day.

Once again I am pleased to say that apart from a couple of ‘discussions’ about penalties and rules, all was settled on the water fairly amicably. What more could you ask.

A late start due to poor wind meant we managed only 3 races before an early lunch, hoping things might improve, then some shortened races after lunch to complete 9 in total.

A couple of equipment failures reduced the fleet late in the day, but most soldiered on to the end.

Congratulations to the placegetters:
1st Ian Smith BRYC
2nd David Roberts BRYC
3rd Ian Robertson SLMM

The on-line results show the relative placings for the clubs as well as individuals.

Thanks to David Black for his usual effort with the scoring, Trevor Fisher for performing the RO duties and to Patrick Collins who "Observed" all day and also called us across the line.. Also thanks to Trevor and Ian Geary for the brand new markers, which certainly were much easier to see, and a dead-giveaway if you touched them.

Final thanks to John Heard and Rod Maunder for course adjustments and rescues.

Looking forward to the Queensland DF65 Championships on the 7th of July at SLMM. Don’t forget to register. We promise there will be more wind.!

Congratulations to all skippers for making this a successful event.
