QRYA Race Officer and Scorers Course a great success!

IMG 4804

On the weekend of 11th & 12th June 2022, the QRYA held an RO and Scorers training course at Sailing Queensland’s facility. This was a great initiative by Trent Jarratt , the previous President, and the previous Committee of the QRYA, we have them to thank. It is of great benefit to Queensland Radio Yacht Sailing and its future. This weekend was made possible by Bill Clancy for the RO training, Anne Walker for the Scorers training and Lindsay Walker who also attended and provided valuable assistance and advice, we thank you all for giving up your time. The extensive time spent in the preparation for the weekend training, publications and sharing of knowledge by those that attended was well received. The sport is all the better for your commitment and dedication. There are many people to thank, apart from the above, some are, Sailing Queensland for the training facility proved, Lorinda from Subway for the catering, our Vice President John Fulton for orgainising the mechanics of the weekend and of course the attendees, who, without them this would not have been possible. They gave up their weekend to learn and hopefully assist as RO’s and Scorers at future events which is greatly needed. As I attended the training, I am sure I can speak for all attendees, the weekend was a great success and we all appreciated the knowledge that Anne and Bill passed on to us. I think there is a need to certify the training we received as we all proceed to assist at future events, I expect this will be on the QRYA Agenda moving forward and the RC Yacht Sailing community will be advised in due course.

Once again thank you to all!

Regards QRYA
