The 2025 DF65 South Queensland Championship Regatta was hosted by Paradise Radio Yacht Club on the 13th and 14th of September.

The Southern pontoon area of Emerald Lake was ideal for the light to moderate South Easterly winds.  Bill Clancy with his race management team set the windward/leeward course parallel to the shoreline with an array of rounding marks at each end, a starting line between and a separate, readily sighted finish line.  Daniel Bergan, making his debut as PRO, elected to run a single fleet for the regatta.  As the wind direction varied, he was able to select ideal rounding marks to be used from the array.  The process functioned efficiently, and a total of 35 races were completed. 

The racing for first place became a tussle between Gary Metcalfe and Andrew Gibbs with the points lead alternating, often from race to race.  Although either often led during a race, the closely placed fleet and frequent wind changes made it difficult to maintain cover.  Gary drew away to 10 points lead in only the latter races.  Competition was close over the entire fleet with all boats finishing most races within one minute.  Placings changed just meters from the finishing line.

PRYC competently ran the regatta and provided tasty lunches.

Emerald Lakes was an ideal Regatta location.

The DF65 competitors sailed well, providing entertainment and camaraderie.
